Mangoes is my first serious attempt at writing a novel. It follows Bee, a trans mathematician who has just been released from a psychiatric hospital and finds herfelf obsessed with a gameshow. it is in part autobiographical. no character in this story is a one-to-one recreation of people in my real life. each one is a mixture of different people, and many people in my life do not show up in this story at all. please don't take it personally. i'm updating this slowly and having a lot of fun with it. maybe someday i'll send it to an editor and look to get it published. maybe not.
this was the first personal essay I've ever written and I had a lot of fun doing it. really easy to get into a flow state with this sort of thing, especially if the topics have been rattling around in your brain for a long time.
this is a poem i wrote the day i realized i was trans. i haven't written much poetry but this was a great way to get my feelings out. i thought the symbolism was subtle, but a friend immediately clocked what it was about.
